About Anna's Sexy Day Off


I'll be frank, I'm not that proud of this game. Time was scarse, but that was part of the challenge. 

Unfortunately I am a pretty slow person and I need a lot of time to make something that is simply decent. 

I spent the first two days just thinking about the setting. 

At first I thought I could use the characters from The Goddess Revolution, another game of mine, and setting this game as a sequel of the prototype (making as such two continuities for the series), but then I thought it would have been too confusing, so I just scrapped that idea and decided to start anew. 

I spent some time with the character generator until I found my four main characters. Then I decided that only the leader of the party would have been the MC (Anna) and the other three became the "damsels in distress" whom the titular heroine had to save. 

At first the game would have been a RPG in all regards. Anna would have bought sexy costumes that allowed her to learn new spells and increased her stats. Each subsequent costume would have made her stronger. 

Anna (or the player) would have started their journey at the beach. They had to find a job as a waitress and serve pervy costumers (the concept has remained even in the final version but in an extremely barren form) so she could get some money to buy the first weapon (a wooden dildo) and the first swimsuit. After that they would have proceeded alongside the shore to fight undines and shark-men until they reached the entrance of the forest, where they had to face against the Undine Queen. Inside the forest there were more monsters to fight, another dress shop to buy a new costume and a new weapon, and finally the boss of the are, who was an old witch. After that the player would have to enter inside a vulcano, and finally, on the other side they would have been able to  enter in the demon castle. Inside it, the player would have encountered Vladimir Solomon, who, if the player had done all the secondary tasks and bought all the weapons and costumes, would have sent you to The Deorumpath to find your final form (you naked self). At the end, the player would have saved Anna's friends and defeated the demons, only to befriend them in the end and having a nice happy ending on the shore where everything began, with everyone, friends and foes.

As you will play, you will notice very little has been conserved of the original project. The vulcano is absent, as well as The Deorumpath. Vladimir Solomon only sells you potion, and he's present in the final area only as a cameo. The rest of the shore has been cut, as well as the fights and any RPG mechanics. The costumes became only mandatory accessories. What is left is an erotic walking simulator.

Two main factors brought me to this meager conclusion: 

  1. My lack of experience (even though I spent already more than 600 hours on RPG Maker, I still only have scratched the surface of the potential of this program. Especially because I'm not a programmer and starting from scratch to learn to code in my 30s isn't really optimal).
  2. The fact that I spent a lot of time to recolor the characters in their underwear to make them "naked" (with genitals and all the rest).     I'm not an artist, I'm not good at drawing, so for me making art that is captivating is not an option. The best I can do is redrawing (recoloring) the pixelated characters in order to give the illusion of nakedness. Unfortunately, it requires a lot of time for me to make this simple modification and it costed me half the time of the challenge. I know making pixelated naked characters that dance polka in front of each other isn't the most optimal or alluring thing to witness in an eroge, but it's the least I can do to offer something. I always hope my prose can suffice to help the imagination of the player.

Speaking of prose, this game is really lacking. Since I have spent most of the time recoloring the characters and rescheduling the scope of my project, I was left with only one day to write what was basically more than half of the game. So, if the writing seems lacking or rushed, well... that's why. English isn't my native language, but damn, I really want to pass for a native English person.

So... why did I decided to publish this botched game anyway? 

Well, for starter, as a challenge for myself, to prove that I'm not a quitter. I can make bad, butchered games that leave everyone mildly impressed at best, or totally indifferent at worst, but I do not quit. On this regard, I succeeded. 

Second, I learned a couple of more trick when it comes to recoloring pixels that can always come useful for my future projects.

And finally, not gonna lie, I had fun making this game after all. I grew fonder with the character of Anna and I want to make more games with her in the future.
